About

Mad As Hell is a place + thing of meaningful nothingness composed by some folks [E+R]. We aren't always 'mad as hell', per se, but we thoroughly enjoy the phrase. There are plenty of words + phrases + punctual marks + things + places that we think are important . . .
But they also probably are not.

It’s like watching opposing armies move across a map, and the red shows us where battle is being waged and casualties are being taken. It’s a fucking invasion. (nola.com)

Save the wetlands New Orleans!
(Albert would probably write a poem about it.)

Dana E. Connors is The Rion Rose.

Dana is so incredibly talented + you will love him.  I promise.

This song is called “004” + while I have a different favorite song every other week, this week it’s definitely “004” for being so catchy and clever.

Be sure to check out his Myspace Music profile for some more music.

Enjoy!

Making fun of nature/Making nature fun - My friend Laura Stedenfeld says:
It really is not Eyjafjallajokull’s fault that humans are awful. Planes were grounded, people stranded, food stocks spoiled, and land was destroyed- maybe he should send us an apology? No way, it’s our problem. Our bro Eyjafjallajokull has been on this turf way longer than we have, and he really shouldn’t have to fret about the fact that people like zooming around the sky in tin tubes or eating Kenyan sugar snap peas.
As Jackson Pollock once eloquently stated, “I AM nature, put up or shut up.” It’s time we stop having the man vs. nature mindset with every earthquake, volcano explosion, flood, or drought that occurs. Our environment has compromised enough- maybe it’s our turn to change the way we do things.

First Underwater Footage: Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill at Source
BP has released footage of their remote operating vehicle (ROV) successfully capping one of the three leaks that is pouring an estimated 5,000 barrels of oil a day into the waters off the Gulf of Mexico.
This is the first video I’ve seen of the oil leak itself . The sheer volume of oil gushing out is quite incredible - you can see it at about the 2 minute 15 second mark of the video.

So lets just break it down here in very simplistic terms:
Toyota has recalls of thousands of cars because of a faulty brake.  Some people die. U.S. government decides that they are going to put Toyota on trial.
Goldman Sachs is a world entity responsible for the “recession” in the U.S., as well as what’s going on in Greece right now + what will probably happen in many other European countries.  G.S. make a ton of money!!!  Some people die [in the riots].  U.S. government decides that they are going to put G.S. on trial [+ G.S. plans on denying everything but we all know that they are full of shit].  To be fair, I don’t think it’s only G.S. fault… They are just taking the fall for everyone else.
BP is drilling for oil out in our rich waters of the Gulf - THREE leaks occur.  Water is polluted.  Birds die.  Fish die.  Sharks die.  Dolphins die.  Etc.  Over 100,000 people will lose their jobs in the fishing economy, not to mention the decrease in tourism that the Gulf coast towns will experience which means less revenue + maybe even more lay offs.  But guess what!  BP is going to make even more money now because gas prices are going up UP UP!  Where’s their trial?
Mad. As. Hell.

Florence + the Machine, “I’m Not Calling You A Liar”

I’m not calling you a liar,
Just don’t lie to me.
I’m not calling you a thief,
Just don’t steal from me,
I’m not calling you a ghost,
Just stop haunting me,
And I love you so much,
I’m gonna let you,
Kill me.

I think I really like Florence + the Machine.

Congratulations also to my friends whose work on the Rising Currents project is currently gracing the walls of the infamous MoMA.
I was one of the lucky few who were invited to attend the VIP opening a few weeks ago - Not always a fan of “events” (only because sometimes I think the architecture world, unfortunately, is about as shallow as the fashion world), but was happy to support my friends, see some compelling projects/proposals + learn a few things.
Go see the show if you’re in town!

After graduating from Parson’s Architectural Design program, getting married + popping out a beautiful child, Sara Bieler Sasson decided that she would take her hobby of making barrettes + headbands for her daughter to new heights.
You can find her handmade treasures on Etsy + soon…. HENRI BENDEL’S!

Two playful seals were spotted celebrating Easter sunbathing on rocks in Croton-on-Hudson, 35 miles north of New York City.
While harbor seals have become a relatively common sight in the Hudson River, these were harp seals, normally found in the frigid waters of the Arctic or northernmost Atlantic oceans.

As a city kid, I’d never heard of children receiving chicks for Easter …I know, I obviously led a sheltered life, but am totally jealous now.
(Except for those colorful ones up there.  That’s not very nice, humans.  How would you like to be soaked in food coloring + then sold for $5 only to live with a family until you weren’t cute anymore?  You wouldn’t.)
Hope everyone has a Happy Easter!
